When your money sits in the bank, you earn interest. So why not earn some extra money on your stocks, gold, or oil contracts while they sit in your broker's vault? Dividends aren't the only way to make money on the stocks you hold long-term. Call options can give you some extra income on those stocks for the years they are sitting idle with your broker.

Here's a quick guide to how it works.

Call options are a right to buy a stock at a specific price between now and a future expiration date. If you buy an IBM December 125 call, it means you have the right to buy 100 shares of IBM for $125 per share any time between now and December, regardless of the market price. Even if IBM is at 159 in December, you can buy it for $125. You can also just sell the call for the difference in price between the two, and pocket the profit. However, from a seller's standpoint, you are selling the right to someone else, who may buy your shares for $125 any time between now and December. He pays you a premium, say $400, for this right, when IBM is at $119. You pocket the extra $400 income, and if the shares get pulled away from you at $125, you still have a $600 profit there too. You just make $1000 instead of the $600 you'd have made without selling the calls.

Of course, if IBM goes to $140 the next week, you might cry real tears, but there's no reason. Profit is profit, and it's never a bad thing. Never cry over a "could have made" deal, just be happy with the profits you have in hand.

However, if IBM stays in the $117 to $124 range for many months, you'll continue to earn extra income by selling calls against your shares. When these expire, you can sell more. It's a constant stream of income. Of course, in events such as the financial crash of the second Bush administration, when most stocks fell 40%... you will still see a loss. However, the income from the calls will help take some of the sting out of it. If you own gold bars, the same principle applies, but you'll need a commodities broker to trade these types of calls on gold.

This isn't a quick fix or guarantee against buying bad stocks or investments. If you had Citibank or Lehmen shares in 2008 or 2009, nothing would have saved you. But it does create extra income against the solid stocks you own that are not built like a house of cards. Nothing is guaranteed in the stock market, not even with blue chips, so you need all the extra income you can get.

You can, however, sell deep in the money calls (calls where the stock value is already above your strike price) , when you think the stock may tumble, but you don't wish to sell the shares. If IBM is at 121 and you suspect a fall coming, sell the 115 calls, likely for $700 or more. If it falls to 114, you'll keep your stock and get enough money from the call sale to cover your losses.

The best place to start is with your existing broker. Look on their website for Options quotes, and start shopping for a proper call to sell against your shares. Sell long-term, and you should do well for yourself.

Stock market crash/ La Borsa crash by juli_modul

Ten tips to help you get started on the right foot investing in the stock market...

Educate yourself about the market ~
Do your homework and learn all you can before you start deciding where to invest your hard-earned money. Look at the history of the stocks you're considering and learn to read a prospectus.

Set investment goals for yourself ~
Decide exactly much much you're will to spend, and what prices (high or low) you will sell at. When you reach your goal, reassess. Don't be afraid to change what isn't working, but don't be to quick to judge either. Decide how many week/months/years you're willing to hold each investment, and then give the market a chance to sort itself out over that whole time period.

Don't gamble with the grocery money ~
Or the rent money, or anything else you really can't afford to lose. Always remember that the stock market is a gamble. Don't risk money that you need for immediate necessary expenses.

Invest for the long term ~
Stock prices will fluctuate, always! Don't panic if the short-term prices drop on a stable company. Always plan your stock investments to be held for at least five years. Over that time, the market fluctuations will have a chance to trend upwards overall. (Staring at the daily, or hourly, changes will drive you crazy!)

Diversify ~
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. You don't want to be in a position where one bad choice, or one bad turn of the market, wipes out all your hard work. Spread the risk around by buying in to several different kinds of securities. Some stocks, some bonds, some CDs, a variety of short and long term investments, and little bit of cash on hand for emergencies.

Consider an online broker service ~
But NOT the first months! If you're new to investing, it's worth the money to have a full-service broker leading you. Later, when you've learned more about how the market works, consider switching to a self-serve, or online service to help reduce your fees.

Get your money's worth ~
Consider stocks of companies that are still growing. You'll get more shares for your money, and have an opportunity to watch them grow as the company matures. The big name, prestigious companies are not always the best value for investors. Companies that are already well-known and successful may have higher initial buy-in prices and slower growth because the big 'spurt' is already past.

Don't get greedy! ~
The stock market is not a get rich quick scheme. Be very wary of 'hot tips' that are supposed to make you a fortune overnight. Take investment advice from reputable sources and always do your own research to double-check any claims. Remember the no one can guarantee how a stock will perform. Be suspicious of anyone who claims they can steer you towards a 'sure thing'.

Don't buy on impulse ~
Make an investment plan, and then stick with it! Don't get sucked into rumors and speculation about what the next 'great buy' it. Choose your stocks after calm rational investigation into their merits. Buying stocks when you feel desperate or panicky is like grocery shopping when you're hungry. You'll buy too much of the wrong things and regret it later.

Think about the tax issues ~
If you're not sure what they are, ASK! A few hours of a professional's time to go over your plans is worth the fee. Any benefit of your investments could be canceled out by poor tax planning, so don't go it alone on those details.

Happy Investing!!.

Stock Trading for Beginners, a Complete How-To by palynp

China's GDP (gross domestic product) in 2010 was reported to be around 10%. In 2010, China surpassed Japan to become the world's second largest economy. In 2011, China's GDP growth is estimated to remain around or above 10%. With this past and projected rapid economic growth, investors are looking for opportunities in the stocks of Chinese companies.

Presently, the stock valuations of many small Chinese companies look very attractive and the financial fundamentals appear strong. Although many of these companies are not covered by analysts, quite a few of those that are have a buy or a strong buy rating.

While the stock of some of these small Chinese companies looks like a potentially good opportunity to cash-in on China's continued projected growth, prior and recent allegations of fraud, accounting discrepancies, and deceptive financial reporting against certain of these companies, including Orient Paper (ONP), China Sky One Medical (CSKI) and China MediaExpress Holdings (CCME), have caused fear and uncertainty about investing in the Chinese RTO market and quite a bit of volatility in not only the stock of the targeted companies but of other China RTOs.

What exactly is an RTO? An "RTO" is a "reverse takeover" and is also known as or sometimes called a "reverse merger" or a "reverse IPO" and refers to a type of merger that is used by a private company to quickly become publicly traded on one of the stock exchanges without having to go through the expense or financial scrutiny that is normally involved or associated with an IPO (Initial Public Offering).

This is achieved by the private company (in this case a small Chinese company or "X") initially buying enough controlling shares of an already listed and publicly traded company or "Y". The X company's shareholder(s) then trade their shares held in the X company for shares of the Y company and, thereby, the X company then effectively becomes the publicly traded Y company.

The problem with this for investors is, of course, that X becomes the publicly traded Y without having to go through the expensive and tedious independent third-party audit nor disclose its financial records and information to the SEC or to prospective shareholders prior to publicly selling its stock on an exchange. Reportedly, some X companies, having become the Y company, then hire and pay a supposedly independent, unbiased research firm or outfit for favorable coverage in an effort to generate public interest in and demand for the stock.

It is estimated that over 350 small Chinese companies have used the reverse takeover, reverse merger or reverse IPO as a "back door" to quickly and inexpensively get listed as a public trading company. While some of these companies may, indeed, be guilty of fraud and deception with respect to accounting discrepancies, financial reporting or other improprieties, others may be perfectly legitimate but are suspect (and their low stock valuations reflect this) due to the concept of guilt by association.

Are all China RTOs suspect? The prudent and cautious initial answer is probably "yes". However, one also needs to know who is making these allegations against a particular company. In many cases, the persons or entities who have accused the targeted Chinese RTO hold substantial short positions in that targeted company. Once an accusation is made, the market response, borne out of fear and uncertainty, will likely trigger a massive sell-off of the stock of the targeted company. When the massive sell off is triggered, the accusers (short sellers) make huge profits.

As is the case with an investment in any stock, exchange trade fund or other security, it is up to the individual investor to do his or her due diligence and evaluate the risks. In the case of the China RTOs, it is even more critical, in fact it is mandatory that the individual investor takes the extra time and effort to thoroughly understand all of the facts surrounding the China RTO market and extensively research the stock of a particular Chinese RTO.

An excellent article on SeekingAlpha.com, describing some red flags for Chinese RTO stock investors to look for, is just one of many good starting points.

Good luck and happy and safe trading!

Common Trading Techniques

trading stock for dummies by StockTrading Simulator

The trading of stocks and options has certainly met with a great deal of new enthusiasm as of late. Many people who have never hired a stock broker, or even traded a single stock for that matter, are being attracted to the option of trading online preferably than in the traditional manner. One of the main rationalities behind this is that most of the newer generation of stock traders have literally grown up using a personal computer for more or less any task for which it's able.

As you can probably guess, given the chance to utilize online option stock trading, this newer generation of investors will happily go online to trade. One of the advantages to online option stock trading is the power to see real time gains and losses of stocks being traded. This allows market savvy traders to be able to identify which way the stock prices have most potential to go. Another big advantage which online option stock trading offers is the chance for the trader to spot and foresee stock price variations. The ability to speculate when a price fluctuation will occur can greatly heighten the trader's profits.

Being able to foresee when a price fluctuation may happen can also enable investors to hold on to a stock longer than they would usually if they are anticipating a price surge. Naturally this also goes with its own risks, , if the trader has a bullish position, and if the price falls drastically instead of rising, then the investor could stand to lose a significant amount of capital. One of the main attributes of any successful investor is a good sense of timing.

Online option stock trading is available for all types of stocks. It makes no difference what type of stock that you may be interested in trading, because you'll find that online option stock trading covers all stocks. Want to trade common shares? You can trade it online. You will also find that you can trade issue stock, story stock, penny stock, treasury shares, synthetic stock, preferred shares, and widow-and-orphan stock.

Another huge advantage that online option stock trading offers investors is a rather fast and fairly cheap method to trade stocks. These trades can be made from anywhere that the investor can find an internet access, at home or on the road. Some of the online option stock trading websites also give investors a trial demo account so that they can practice trading before they invest any capital. These demo accounts also act as stock trading training, allowing the investors to see how everything works and to get comfortable with online trading.

One thing is for certain; before you begin online option stock trading, be sure you fully understand all of the inherent risks associated with online option stock trading. Always do your research before picking a stock, and if you're uncertain of your abilities, consult a broker.

Safety Suggestions For Repairing Home Appliances Appliance Repair Providers For Your Just about every Appliances

Appliance Repair in PRINEVILLE, OR by appliancehub

A - Dave's Appliance RepairNeighborhood: Will County and surrounding area
Joliet, IL 60435
United States of AmericaNo one likes to have their appliance break down, but having an Appliance Repair Service that you trust make it a lot easier to deal with. We are new to the area in the last two years and have been fortunate to not require any repairs in this time. Then in the last month, two of our appliances were in need of repair.

How I found A-Daves
I did not know who to call so I started looking in the local phone book and saw a listing for A-Daves Appliance Repair. I looked them up online and saw only praise for them, so I decided to give them a call.

Making the Appointment
Dave's Apprentice took my call and handled it in a very professional way. He took down the name and model number of my Refrigerator and a description of the problem and said he would call me back to set up an appt. He went over their policies and charges and put me at ease.

Hours of Operation
Monday through Friday 8am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-2pm, Sundays Closed
They are open some holidays

A-Daves Appliance Repair Inc.
A-Daves is a Family Owned Business for 20+ years. I was impressed that they had been servicing customers in my area for so long and with no complaints found on the internet this was a plus. They also had no complaints listed with the BBB. The business consists of the owner and his apprentice, so when you call you always know who will be doing the work.

Address and Phone
2416 Garden St
Joliet, IL 60435
(815) 676-5980

Fees Charges and Warranty
At the time of my service call, the charge was $55 and that fee would go toward a repair if needed. I felt that was very reasonable because most Appliance Repair Companies charge a trip fee and then start adding on more charges to that. A-Daves Charges by the job not by the hour so whatever quote they give you before the work starts does not change if it ends up taking them longer to complete the work. They warranty all their work for a full year. I felt that their charges and warranty were very reasonable and fair.

The Service Calls
A-Daves Appliance Repair was able to make an appointment for the same day. I did call first thing in the morning so I am sure that helped. They gave me a 2 hr window, and when they were on their way they called to let me know that they would be there shortly. The first service call to repair my Refrigerator required them to go pick up a part after coming to look at my Refrigerator, they were able to get the part and return to fix my appliance within an hour or so. The charge for that repair was $265 which included a part that opens and closes the cold air to my refrigerator as well as the installation. They were very careful to not damage anything in my home.

The second call we made to A-Daves Appliance Repair was to fix the door pulley system on our Dishwasher. When I called and spoke with them on the phone, they knew exactly what was wrong and when they arrived they had the part and were able to complete the repair. Again they were very friendly, and professional. The repair took a little longer than expected but they still only charged me what I was quoted which was approximately $150.

Services Provided and Area's Serviced
A-Daves will provide services in the Following areas: Joliet, Plainfield, Romeoville, Crest Hill, Lockport, Bolingbrook, Will County and Surrounding Area. They are able to service, Refrigerators, Freezers, Dishwashers, Stoves and Ovens, Garbage Disposals, and Washers and Dryers. If you have some other appliance just call and ask if they can do the work.

Bottom Line
I will not hesitate to call A-Daves Appliance Repair for my future appliance repair needs. I feel very confident in recommending them to anyone who may require their services
